review 1: I bought this book around a year ago but took a while to get around to reading it. Overall I quite liked it. The pace was fast enough without racing ahead; the storyline was believable and not too fantastic; the main characters have some depth and character to them. Overall a light, enjoyable read. The gospel/God content was very understated. It will be interesting to see how the characters and gospel content are developed or expanded upon in the next books.Patricia is able to draw you into the scenery in a very quiet way. She develops atmosphere bit-by-bit.
review 2: Just found a new author--well, new to me. Patricia H Rushford has written many books. Deadly Aim is the first in the Angel Delaney Mysteries series and the kind of good reading us mystery buffs ad
... moreore. Lots of suspense and action. Twists abound. I didn't guess who-done-it until just before the reveal. Okay, I really never did guess. Good writing. Angel Delaney is a detective just like her father. A lot of the story revolves around her relationship with her father, in fact. With a degree in counseling, Rushford has packed this book with psychological insights. Angel Delaney shoots a black boy who is holding a toy gun. Boy, has she got problems after that. She's not just suspended, a civil trial is brewing. I recommend this book and look forward to reading more in this series. less
