review 1: An appalling account on how the US military strove to be politically correct, with the expense of the life and career of three decorated US Navy SEALs. Prisoner abuse, rightly, should not be tolerated. However, when you take the word of a distressed, overworked, 19 years old MA3 and a master liar terrorist over the words of an entire Navy SEAL platoon (and more), it gets ridiculous. There is an interesting underlying possibility, though. Let's look at the facts:1. The then Maj. Gen. Charles Cleveland was a former special operator himself, having commanded 6 different SF units, and thus know how honorable these highly trained, professional SEALs are2. MGEN Cleveland did not even want to meet and hear the SEALs' accounts on what happened unless it was under Article 153. MGEN ... moreCleveland chose to ignore a powerfully backed letter from Congress to stop the whole thing and pursue the trials4. MGEN Cleveland did not stop the judicial process even though facts point out that it was clear as day the SEALs were innocent, and the American public was clearly in support of the SEALs5. Even after all three SEALs were exonerated, the then Major General Cleveland only offered a weak statement, citing "maintaining order and discipline" as a cause and how he believed that trials were the best way to bring truth to light (despite overwhelming evidence anyone could have accessed), failing to address how financially costly these trials were for the SEALs and their families6. After the ridiculousness of the prosecution (and convener) in the whole process were well known, he still got promoted to Lieutenant General, heading the USASOCAll points out to a possibility that someone (or more) at the very senior levels pushed him to bring punishment to these Navy SEALs, regardless of their innocence.
review 2: DO NOT BUY THIS!!! Former journalist? I have a hard time seeing that in this book. He did not even check his sources to confirm fact from fiction. He will make up whatever he thinks will sell a book, and to hell with the facts. Shame on Robinson for not showing respect to the SEALs who supposedly co-authored the book and for failing to show respect to all of the SEALs and their families negatively affected by his trash. Robinson is just another pathetic author trying to write about something he has no clue about. Add his ineptness on the top of poor writing skills and the book fails on its own. When you compound the story behind the story of this book, Robinson's book is a complete catastrophe. Its shameful for anyone to try and justify buying this book because the one conman is mentioned a few times... the main conman is Robinson himself! Why would you continue to provide any profit to someone who enabled the endangerment of Navy SEALs and their families? Robinson is such a cretin that instead of fixing what some of you call minor mentions - he is trying to start up a new book tour. Bottom line: DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK! less

Excellent book on a sorry subject. The administration should be ashamed of themselves.

9/15/14. Great story but told with a lot of hyperbole.
