review 1: Very disappointing compared to he majority of Patrick Robinson's other works. While the action itself is enjoyable, the premise is beyond far-fetched. After building up Mack Bedford as a USN SEAL, having first class character, Robinson turns him into essentially a killer-for-hire. It almost seems as if Robinson keeps trying to justify the plot throughout the book with reminders of Mack's motivations, but for me, the disconnect was too significant to truly appreciate the book to any degree.
review 2: Robinson does a fine job of writing with this novel. A very good storyline that had the appropriate amounts of action and drama stirred in to keep this novel moving along at a good clip. However there were a few stumbling blocks along the way. A few inconsistencies
... morejumped out at me causing slight interruptions to the smooth flow of the novel. There was one towards the beginning of the novel and than all was well. Suddenly towards the end within probably twenty pages of one another the author hit several snags. The other problem I had, was attempting to place the characters that Robinson created into the scenarios that he put them. The main character is brush stroked as a red, white and blue, flag draped Lt. Cmdr. in the Navy Seals. Yet he becomes embroiled in a highly illegal assasination plot. The other character problem I had was the white haired elderly grandfatherly type owner of a small shipyard that will do anything to save his business and town. Including murder. Sort of like biting into a juicy hamburger and it tastes like fried chicken. I mean sure it tastes good but what the hell! And the ending seemed kind of rushed as well. Other than those small problems this may have rated a bit higher. less

This author co-wrote Lone Survivor with Marcus Luttrell. The book was repetitive and predictable.
