review 1: I love letters. I love everything about them: receiving them, reading them, answering them or writing them. So, this book caught my attention right away when I last visited the Bookshop. After all, I've read and enjoyed some of Paul Auster's work. His collaborator, John Coetzee, has won the nobel prize in literature. After reading a few letter collections of politicians (most recently JFK), the author's correspondence intrigued me. And the two gentlemen don't disappoint.Their writing is elegant, their topics are intelligent and their grasp of the English language is magnificent. Seeing how this friendship evolved over the three years covered in the short book is fascinating. While some of their ideas and conversations are noteworthy, others are mundane, lacking in depth an... mored also very snobby.Nonetheless, it gave me an excellent insight into two wildly successful authors living lives I'm slightly envious of and challenged me to articulate more of my thoughts again to hopefully, one day, convey them as elegantly in prose as the two gentlemen did in this book.
review 2: Un libro interesante y entretenido.
