review 1: Damn. Just...damn. This book is just a whole lot of bad luck and terrible people. This definitely had me at the edge of my seat. My only beef was that I found it odd that it kept changing from first person with the main character and then to the second person perspective with Detective Schroder. I've never encountered that before. Well back to the review. The first time I picked up this book I was super intrigued but about a quarter of the way in there was one scene that was hard for me to read because I'm a huge animal lover and I couldn't fathom such cruelty. But I did finally picked it back up and just skimmed that part. The story follows Edward Hunter son of serial killer Jack The Hunter. Edward has made a pretty decent life for himself, he's married and had a 6 year ol... mored daughter but all that goes to hell the moment 6 men rob the bank they're in and the story just takes off from there. I found the story interesting and engaging. I NEEDED to see how it all ended. I've already added his other novels to my to-reads list!
review 2: Gave it a three because it was well-written, clever, engaging and kept you guessing at a couple different points in the story. Wanted to give it a one or a two because it was so dark. Now, some dark can be okay, but there has to be something redeeming to balance it so that it works out, or at least isn't awful, at the end. If I want unending dark with no hope, I'll tune into the world around me. I read to escape.....not to linger. less
