My Boyfriend Is a Monster
review 1: Made for each other Art: different artist the art is lack luster at best very classic American comic strip style very bland DCharacters: Tom and maria. Tom is a monster made for a lonely monster think a male version of Frankie from monster high with less personality. Maria is a band geek who falls for him. And some how they love each other. Maria makes Bella swan look tough in comparison these characters are dry rip offs of edward and Bella really dull and bland DStory: Wow this story was a mess. New girl transfers to new school after parents died, runs into new boy they fall in love new boy has secret and...wow this story wasn't only a pale comparison to twilight (just replace vampire with Frankenstein) but it also fails as a story brining up to many questions and to litt... morele answers. This story is more nit pick then good. Starting with the couple the first three pages give us maria then page four she runs into tom they barely speak ok fine. Then not even a chapter in and they meet again and almost kiss and they don't know ANYTHING about each other and already he says she is amazing yeah ok...what? The “My boyfriend is a monster series” says that its all about the “insight into real-world relationships.” and “ The stories respect and show real love for their genre roots, and keep a grounding in real-life teen concerns.” so How in the world is meeting for two seconds and then wanting to kiss each other “ insight into real- world relationships?” HOW!? Maria and Toms relationship is also at its core really sick she is basicly dating a reanimated corpse which is NOHING like being an organ donor!!! (despite her insisting it is) though out the story Tom's father makes a new girl who is suppose to be for tom it really goes down hill from there and ends on a “what now?” note. This story is flat flat flat and confusing it could have been good but to many variables make it to weird and confusing also the writer knows NOTIHNG of time transitions FCover: The cover is amazing! With Maria and Tom looking up at fear at his father who is all in shadow it really brings you in and makes it suspenseful very eye catching and classic monster movie poster style the colors are amazing as is the artwork here BRating: T for teen Company: Graphic universe My rating : 2 of 5 stars Nothing in this story made sense and the end... with the hint of bride of frankenstein? Ha ha we get the joke not funny This story was stupid and the artwork made it hard to tell who was who at times it was a mess and a blur and I'm not going to review the others in the series I'll read them but I am not reviewing them after this performance
review 2: I’m reviewing this for NetGalley.Made for Each Other is the second book to the My Boyfriend is a Monster series. Maria McBride goes to William H. Seward High School and plays the violin with the band. It is revealed that her parents had died in a car accident, so she lives with her aunt, Sophie. Three girls that went to this high school died in a car accident as well. Maria literally bumps into a new student, Tom Stone. Tom walks in on Maria playing the violin and nearly kisses her. Maria is definitely hooked now, but Tom brushes her off. This causes her to become discouraged until she discovers his shocking secret.I like this book and found several moments pretty funny. I wasn’t thrilled with the graphics, but in a way, the illustrations added a spookier element to the book. less
