review 1: This was an interesting book about a discovery of a 3rd book of acts and lost chapter of mark of the books of the bible. It is about a married couple who are archaeologists and bible scholars. They find a hidden ancient bible in an old church in turkey. I found it kind of convenient how they stumbled on it and would have appreciated a more complicated, circuitous discovery of this ancient book. And, not much is new in the books that are discovered, so the discovery was kind of a letdown. A large part of the book dealt with a public debate the main character has with a Muslim scholar about Islamic and Christian differences. I learned a lot about the Muslim religion. There are many commonalities that we should all understand and appreciate between Islam and Christiani... morety. There was a lot also about the Byzantine empire that stood for a thousand years and was the center of the civilized world during that time. I didn't know much about that subject and appreciated learning that. There are two other books this author wrote and I think I'll read those too.
review 2: I really liked the discussion/debate between the Muslim and the Christian in the story. It really helped me understand more about some of the more peaceful Muslim groups vs the violent extremist Muslim groups. I was really shocked to learn this behavior comes from their own scriptures. The rest of the story was interesting and flowed well. The main character were likable and seamed very real and believable. The idea of finding a missing book of the bible is fascinating. less
