review 1: Paul Stutzman lost his wife of 32 years to cancer. Feeling the pain of the loss of his wife, he gave up his job of 25 years as a restaurant manager to hike the Appalachian Trail. Paul, a Mennonite from Ohio, says he didn't lose his religion on the hike but found spirituality. The hike helped him grieve, helped him to heal and also opened his mind and heart to wide range of experiences and friends that he would not have found if he hadn't taken this huge step of hiking 2,000 miles over several months.

... morede. I did think the focus on free food and the time spent in hotels/motels was a little off-putting. Easy for me to say not having done a hike like the one described. less

Not the best book on hiking the trail. It got a little tedious.
