review 1: Cai needs a bride, not to fullfil his life or replace his young wife who died in childbirth, but to allow him to be the porthman for his community. Without a wife, the leader of the drove, is considered less likely to return home and less trustworthy when it comes to the financial responsibilities. He's seen Morgana, in a neighboring town. He finds her young, attractive and a little intriguing. He's asked the townfolk about her, and while no one speaks badly of her, he feels they are holding something back. Cai assumes they are hesitant to speak of the events that lead to the end of Morgana's speaking. All he knows of this is that her father left home, when she was young, and she hasn't spoken since.Morgana isn't excited to be a bride and leave her ailing mother. But, the... more marriage has been agreed upon and her mother is anxious to see her settled before she dies.Morgana's new home is a beautiful ranch, with horses, a finer house than she's ever dreams of and a natural well with magical powers for those that live there. On her first day, at her new home, Morgana is introduced to Isolda and takes an instant disliking to her. It isn't until a little while and a few tragedies later that she understands why. The young witch, Morgana, must learn how to harness and use her powers to protect her husband and her new home. This story is the classic battle of good and evil. What made this book such a good read was the richness of the characters, especially Morgana, the mute.
review 2: I read this book a few months ago actually and would give it more than three stars if it had more of a story to it in the sense that yes the Welsh language was used and yes it took place (it's setting) was in Whales but no it did't give more of an explanation of what it was like to be welsh. It was kind of a light read which was a plus since I wasn't looking for read something like Chaucer. I liked it. less

Really really good. Took me a bit to get invested in the characters. Recommend it. Not a YA book

A very quick and easy read. A little slow at parts, but a "fun" read on a winter's night.
