review 1: Interesting paranormal story with demon and mate. I love these kinds of stories, where you find the ordinary girl next door and the sexy newcomer that hide strange secrets that meet and fall in love instantly. Peiri Ann gives the readers a new kind of YA Paranormal Romance with a lot of action, sensuality and danger at every corner.Nathan and Tracey meets under weird circumstances, but then everything will change for both of them. Nathan is a burdened Sephlem, one kind of a demon that mates for life. Powers, abilities, burden, murder, battle and survival is part of Nathan's life, but is now a part of Tracey's too. Danger is lurking everywhere because burdened mates are sharing the same heart. Tracey is not only the love of Nathan but his life too.In Burdened, Tracey learns... more about demons and the existence of a paranormal world. Her life is changed forever because of her love for Nathan and their shared relationship. They are both target to other demons who doesn't appreciate this new association.A lot happen in a really short time. From my POV, it's too quick and doesn't seem real to fit in this among of time. I don't want to spoil anything but the whole story unfolds in less than two weeks.I loved the fact that Tracey's best friend Glen was experiencing the same thing with Nathan's cousin Scott. That add awkward and funny moment to this story, but Scott and Glen are different. Their relation isn't as easy and romantic as Tracey and Nathan. By the end of this book, I had enough of them, especially Glen who's childish beyond reason!I think this story have a lot of potential, the author Peiri Ann have a lot of imagination and great writing skills. The originality behind Burdened is inviting and thrilling, I can't wait to read the sequel! I loved to read about this new world and discovering the creature and their superpowers.Action is what described this book the best. There is no rest for the wicked! Every part of this book is built to entertain and maintain the fast paced rhythm!Overall, Burdened is a great asset to the YA Paranormal world of books and if you're a fan of this kind of read, this title is for you, a must-try!
review 2: I was allowed a copy of this book via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. I am huge fan of paranormal and romance. Mix the two together and it is the best chocolate sundae ever, with a cherry on top. Having said that, I am always a little hesitant to pick up paranormal books because I find that much of the time they are terrible. However, Burdened is a diamond find. I loved all of the paranormal aspects. I enjoyed the dialogue among charcters and the different ways in which they communicated their feelings. It was refreshing to see love and romance mixed in with the storyline in ways that remained true to the characters, not forced or fake. I am so happy to have been introduced to this book. I just saw the post on Goodreads today from Peiri Ann stating that the second book would be released soon. I'm ready!! less
