review 1: This was really good- it was about the son of a mob boss who tries to go straight, but, in the end, is dragged down by his family connections and the bad decisions he makes. The book is very dark and bleak and there are no happy endings in sight. I did enjoy it however. The character of the cop (Pigfucker) seemed wasted, as he was only in it a little bit, I would have liked seeing him as a bigger part of the story. But I liked the way it unfolded, you knew it was going to end badly from the beginning, and were just along for the ride.
review 2: A dandy thriller from Hard Case Crime from Blauner when he was just getting started as a writer in the mid-1990s. His hero grew up in Atlantic City the stepson of a local Mafia man. He was told never to ask too many qu

Probably could have been shorter, especially in some of the conversations that reestablish Mafia rituals and characters we already know, but still a fun way to pass the time and a sign of better to come from Blauner. less

EPIC Atlantic City mob fiction; probably the best "modern" HCC novel yet.
