review 1: In general I like 'true crime' books, but this one did not hold my interest very well. I was interested in the story since I have seen the movie 'Innocent Creatures" (I think is the title) with Kate Winslet. The book did not add mush insight as to the personalities of the two girls; though I did learn more factual information about the murder. I would have likes more information about the family of the girl whose mother was murdered, and less about the love affairs of the other mother (which I did not find that relevant). More evidence that money matters in all of life's events.

Juliette Hulme and Paulette Parker became friends while attending Christchurch Girl's High in New Zealand. They became obsessed with each other and created a private world for the two of them to share. This relationship led to the murder of Pauline's mother.Graham's book not only gives detailed information about what led up to the murder, the murder trial, life in prison, but also their lives after their release from prison. It delves into the possibility of a homosexual relationship and the many different psychological issues each of these girls might have had and why.It is revealed that Juliette Hulme changed her name to Anne Perry after her release from prison. She is one and the same Anne Perry who has become the acclaimed murder mystery writer.They do always say that you should write what you know from a personal experience. less
