review 1: A series of stories on humans. Hessler writes incredibly well. He also, from what I can tell, travels well. He starts meaningful relationships with the people he comes across. It makes Country Driving great travel writing. Sancha was the best story of the three. I cared about the son, and thought for sure he had caught leukemia. The happier ending was a huge relief, and I was glad to watch (read?) him grown into a somewhat happy chubby city kid.

Entertaining, but a bit cliché at times and fairly predictable if you have spent time in China.
