review 1: Although this story does not have much of a lesson to it, students can relate to it. I loved this story because it is simple enough for a beginning reader to read. This book may not be appropriate for a read aloud lesson but it is definitely a great story for children to read on their own. Many students will find enjoyment out of it because it is a love story. Most kids will laugh and think it's gross that Henry is in love, but students will be able to make connections with the main characters.
review 2: This is a spectacular book. We absolutely loved it! Our 3 and a half year old boy melted our hearts when asking us to read "Henry in Wove".The story is a sweet, simple, appropriate, charming, wonderful tale of little Henry and his first love Chloe. The writi... moreng is tight, perfectly crafted, and there is the exact right amount of words to tell the story without over-speaking anything.The illustrations in "Henry in Love" are subtle and magnificent. I really enjoyed Mr. McCarty's sparse but impacting style and many times, even after having read the book over and over, a smile spread across my face as I turned to one of my favorite pictures. If you prefer large, colorful, boisterous art - this is not it. These illustrations are quiet and have minimal use of color. But they are each exceptional and the pretty pictures work so well with his smooth writing.I love books that have double page spreads which make you sit back and sigh. This one has many. And I particularly enjoy books that have artwork which I could see framed and up on a kid's bedroom wall as decoration. This book has many of those too! Since it deals with love, it would seem to be a girl book, but again I say that our 3 1/2 yr old loved it.This book would make a great gift for any little one in your life and moms and dads will love it too. And since it's that time of year - "Henry in Love" would be a fantastic Valentine's Day present for kids! less
