review 1: I have a love/hate relationship with this book. The story is beautifully crafted. The first part goes along perfectly with the news story. I understand that the author made up the second part because no one knows what happened to the dad and the girl BUT he went where he shouldn't have. I love this story on a literary level, but I think he did a great disservice to the true story. He shouldn't claim it's based on a true story if he's going to make the story what it's not. If he would have stayed true to the story I would have given it 4.5 stars.
review 2: I enjoyed this book, though it left a lot of unanswered questions. The background story about Caroline and her father living in off the grid undetected in Forest Park in Portland was interesting. I felt that t
... morehe writing style was descriptive and conveyed the disjunctive nature of what was happening to Caroline. She kept up as best she could given what was her place in the world as she saw it. I know that is cryptic but if you read the story you will understand. The author took the news articles and then created an ending to a story that had no end and no real details to go off of. My recommendation is give this one a try. less
