review 1: If you're interested in innovation, testing and thinking outside the box, you need to read this book. After finishing, I actually bought one for every person at Go Overseas. It tells the story of how best to innovate: Not just creating a product and hoping people like it, but making "little bets" along the way. Start small, test, and learn from your users. The book does a great job of weaving in real life stories from individuals like Chris Rock and Seinfeld, telling the story of how they come up with their comedy (hint: it takes a lot of trial & error and little bets at comedy clubs to prepare for those big specials). It also focuses on the stories of innovation at larger companies- and all large companies were once small. The best example in the book is that of Pixar and... more how they eventually brought us movies like Toy Story- it was quite a journey along the way for them.A great book, one of the best & most inspirational business books I've ever ready. Highly recommended, and it's a quick read. In the words of my Professor: "A fantastic little gem of a book."
review 2: A great book that illustrates the concept of doing things incrementally and not being afraid to fail. The book is easy to read and contains plenty of examples and relevant material. The book also features plenty of resources for further reading and study.I perhaps would have liked to seen the book be a little bit longer and in depth but as a starting point it is good. It is certainly a book that will demonstrate that not all successes come from huge developments, many in fact start out small and grow rapidly once they have been affirmed. If you are starting up in business or looking to take some risks then the philosophy of keeping it small and simple goes a long way. less
