review 1: Echopriaxia continues the tradition begun in Watts' Starfish of immersing already damaged individuals in precarious situations. Dan Bruks is a throwback, an unenhanced 20th century human trying to survive in a future where alteration is the norm. He's one of us. How would I function in this twisted SF vision? Not as well as Bruks. Watts always entertains with 'big' concepts, meticulous research and detail and believably portraying truly nasty entities. Echoproxia is dark, make no mistake, I usually need a break between Watts' novels, but is is well worth the time.

... morese and technical descriptions. Stylistically better than Blindsight I would say. Peter Watts get's a kick out of unearthing obscure brain-diseases and cranking them up to 11. Maybe a bit too much brain-cell reductionism for my taste although the author might be able to explain to me (in detail) why I'm hard-wired as such. Liked it, would recommend to someone looking for serious stuff. less
