review 1: You have got to be kidding. I almost stuck this in the "fiction" shelf. Actually, it would make a pretty decent plot for a spy novel or something, but as "history" this is pretty lame. The text is full of supposition, lacks any real rigor of thought and contains one logical fallacy after another. The author starts with a thesis he has no intention of disproving or even examining with any discipline, selects only material that fits the thesis and shows no sign of much critical analysis of what he has read (hey, he even footnotes... but check the references!)Then he supposes and invents and creates thoughts and motivations and the like that can not be proven (or disproven... which is the WHOLE REASON WHY THEY ARE TRUE!!! Obviously, anything I invent that you can not disprove... more must be true just on that basis alone. Yeah.... right.)1. LBJ wants to be President2. When JFK dies, LBJ is President3. Therefore LBJ kills JFK1 and 2 are true. That does not in any way make 3 true any more than...1. JFK was President2. JFK is dead3. Therefore all Presidents are deadTheories and things like this are fun. You can invent just about anything and no one can actually disprove it because proving a negative is impossible. Even then, anyone that tries to disprove or at least show the problems with my theory is just another pawn in the conspiracy and a dupe of the bad-guys, so that just proves even more how right I am.The thesis is pretty lame. The "proof" is pretty thin. The writing is not the best. It was unconvincing. It was, however, entertaining. All being said it was OK, just not as "history".
review 2: This book was a VERY comprehensive account of the Kennedy assassination and the role that Lyndon Johnson played in organizing it and covering it up. It was a VERY long book----almost 800 pages, filled with names, dates, conspiracies, and details regarding the Crime of the Century. Excellent book, though a bit tedious to read in places. The author leaves the reader with no doubt about the fact that LJB---though he had help from several other sources was the mastermind of the crime. less

Very tight read. Doubts about premise but enjoyed nevertheless.
