review 1: The imagery is so beautiful here, and the story so well-told, that it was almost impossible to put down. This thoughtful scifi adventure demonstrates masterful world-building, and exquisitely-flawed characters that felt real enough to touch. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the heavy-handed and preachy treatment of homosexuality; it disrupted the flow of the story as the author used her characters to champion her political views.
review 2: I loved Starglass and anxiously awaited this sequel. Starglass took place entirely aboard the space ship, so it was nice to finally see them reach their destination and get off of the ship where they have lived their entire lives.
