review 1: The last historical fiction novel I read was The Bloodletter's Daughter. While I enjoyed Daughter very much, I found I Am Livia to be much better written and more enjoyable. Daughter had some unnecessary scenes and suffered from some descent sized plot holes. I Am Livia suffers from no such problems. The plot is well written and executed. I also really enjoyed the first person perspective. In addition, the author created nice drama and suspense for events that happened well over 1000 years ago.
