review 1: I was stuck between 3 and 4 stars for this one. I am not 100% sure how I really feel about this book. It was a touch repetitive, but not bad; however it was so horribly depressing. Books like this just make me sad because every one of the characters have issues and catastrophic pasts. I know horrific things happen to people, but I don't like reading books that keep a dark cloud looming over your head. If I want depressing, I would read the newspaper or watch the news. I want to escape the world's woes when I read, not go head first into them. That's just my 2 cents worth. A 3 star review to me is means the read didn't like or dislike a book so take it for what it's worth.
review 2: Set in the punk scene of the early 1980s, this is Connor's story. He's a young d
... morerop out, and a lead singer in a punk band, whose life is full of understandable rage. His voice comes across so clearly in the story that I almost feel I know him. I certainly wanted to comfort him when he was at his lowest ebb. I've read a lot of NA stories recently, but this one truly stands out among the rest. It may be the punk setting, which lends the story a truly interesting angle, or it may be the way the author draws the characters with a fine pencil, pulling me in until I felt part of the story. Whatever it was, I loved it.Ache is part of a series of books, and I can't wait for the next one to come out. I want to know more about Tonya, about Connor and what happens next to them both. I'll be keeping a keen eye out for book 2. less
