review 1: I spent a year living and working in rural central Ohio and read some of Gaus's Amish mysteries in preparation for my stay and then again toward the end of my time there. As someone who got to know some Amish people fairly well and as an anthropologist who has spent a lot of time thinking and writing about how members of other cultures or subcultures are presented on the written page, I have always been impressed by the thoughtful observations and reflections on Amish culture that Gaus weaves into his writing. His interest in and deep respect for Amish life in Ohio infuse his writing. Although his plots are good, I actually mainly read his books for his overall style.
review 2: This is the seventh book in the Amish Country Murder Series and very good. P L Gaus
... moremakes one feel that one is living in an Anish community in Ohio. One cold morning Bishop Leon Shetler gets up to milk his cow and Chris Burkholder comes running up his drive yelling he killed Glenn Spiegle. The story takes place in Ohio and at the end Florida. I didn't know that Amish people went to Florida near Sarasota for vacations. I learn something new in each book Gaus writes. A very enjoyable mystery. My favorite scene takes place with boats chasing each other in Florida. less

Seventh book in the series. The addition of Florida as part of the storyline was very interesting.
