review 1: A grown up trying to remember how it was to be a teenager with a crush and the super stupid things they think young women are supposed to do when it comes to teenage boys. Sorry to inform you entertainment industry but teenage girls are so much smarter now. I am so sick of this tripe, as I read all I prayed for was that the author would just to keep to the story of the amazing library and how grim the Grimm brothers were. But no, i am barely half way through and I have started reading something else. Dear Grown Up Author,Do grow up. Write a book for your audience not for the potential movie deal. Seriously, I have had the good luck to know supremely smart teenagers well come to 2014 where girls do know better.Now to what was goodI really do wish the author had stuck to sto... morery of the library, the Grimm brothers and magic. I was able to suspend disbelief and be in the beautiful library but then a few paragraph in one of the girls would do something stupid in the name of Mark. Lost one star due to the abject stupidity of the characters in this book
review 2: Completely likeable, easy to read, fairytales coming to life, and set in a library - what's not to enjoy! The characters were good too, especially little Andre, so cute! Leave your sense of reality at the door and embrace the magical world of flying carpets, golden keys, and evil mirrors. I think the library geek in me might have helped me to enjoy it more but I think it's definitely worth a read. Looking forward to the next in the series. less
