review 1: I had issues with Hugo's passive attitude. I have issues with Kevin's blindness to Hugo's needs. I was annoyed, because it felt abusive, like Hugo's job to be the caregiver.Hugo is the cooker, the nanny, the chauffeur; what about being Kevin's partner? What about being taken into consideration?I was annoyed with the characters laid back attitude towards people calling Hugo "the help" WTF?! No one thought about telling them to go f*** themselves?!It was obvious for everyone except the characters in this book.I also hated Hugo for not sticking up for himself. The truth was out! But still no one was man enough to face the comments, and stand up for their relationship.Like clarifying their relationship was less important than everything else going on. For me it felt like they ... morewere putting their relationship down, ashamed of it at times.Granted, the whole thing is setting up the main drama for the next book, where the idiotic grandparents want to take the kids away from Kevin and Hugo's care. But it didn't feel like enough reason to put up with the attitude.Erin, was ok, but again passive. Taking, taking, taking. By the time she realized she was sucking them dry, the plot line turns her into some sort of saint. I like Hugo and I like Kevin but they were both too lost in this book. They go from broken and sad and all around depressed to fuck each other's brains out to put the pieces back together.Everything felt disconnected. But I want to know where this is all going.I want to see the homo-phobics go down. And I want to see the Hugo and Kevin from book one, strong, happy, complete, full of life and love for each other.Partners, committed to their relationship and their family. All the time, every time, Hugo spoke with Kevin about the family, it was "your family". NO! we have to stop this. Is Hugo's family too! just as much as Kevin's.I am upset right now, I'm going to wait a few days to pick up book 3.
review 2: I actually love this book and I was really not blown away by book 1. Kevin can be so damn difficult sometimes and I often feel like Hugo allows himself to be a doormat, but I love how they've turned into a family. I also loves his relationship with Erin. I kinda thought there was gonna be a threesome there for a moment which would have been HOT but the resulting scene was scorching nevertheless. All in all, I enjoyed this one and I'm looking forward to the next book. less
