review 1: This is the first time I have read a book by this author. It is the first in a Trilogy. This is a fairly graphic read but not as hard as some I have read. I liked the plot in this book. Primula created some strong, or weak characters, for this story. Gustav is haunted by his ex wife.Serena was an abused foundling and is strong but still insecure. They are made for each other but just can't quite trust themselves. There is a twist at the end concerning Gustav' s estranged brother. I can't wait to read the next book and finish the Trilogy. Give this one a chance.
review 2: Not sure what about this book had me hooked, at first I thought it was going to read about a younger inexperienced girl sucked in by a rich older man both with a ton of baggage......I mean it w... moreas there but done differently and yet it was different maybe because Serena did not act as naïve as most of the inexperienced girls in many books now. She wanted Gustav and she wanted more but she was willing to walk away at the end without a bunch of drama because that was what she agreed to. I figured one of the two from Gustav's past would appear, not the way it happened but I liked the way it did. less
