review 1: I loved this book but there is no way I can adequately review it. It's fiction but based on the author's relationship with his wife who passed away from cancer in 2004. The book is a beautiful, complex, intense, and very personal love story. I know people will read this astonished that he believes his was A happy marriage. I see it as a very real depiction of a happy marriage and all the stuff in between that make it so.
review 2: It took me a while to get through this book. I found it to start out quite slow and did not find the characters relatable at first. At one point I felt that I didn't want to finish the story, but I am glad I did as the story line seemed to pick up a bit about halfway through the book. ... morengs toward both Margaret and her family. Yglesias does a good job of tying the book together in the very last chapter, which made finishing the entire book completely worth it. less
