review 1: I enjoyed The Last Plea Bargain as a fun read not lacking intensity. It's hard for me to read a book and not try to figure out who is really behind the mystery and I would say my suspicious nature allowed me to hone in on the real bad guy pretty quickly in this novel. However, there were a few surprises that Mr. Singer craftily weaved together at the end. Mr. Singer, being an attorney, gives us insight into the legal world of prosecutors and defense lawyers who battle for justice with a realism that made an emotional impact on me as a reader.
review 2: I was really enjoying this until the last few chapters. I found it to be entertaining, smart and well-written. But then the author decided to end with a twist. I love twists - if they're well-done. But, alas, art
... moreificially creating a twist ending by taking a good character and suddenly turning them bad or vice-versa in the last chapters without any prior indication doesn't take any skill. It's easy to lie to your readers the entire book or to give them an incomplete picture and suddenly try to pull the rug out from under them. But effective? No, I don't think so. less
