review 1: I was fascinated by this book. I started reading it in a noisy train compartment and quickly became so engrossed that I was no longer aware of the racket going on around me. I liked Raymond Moody's honesty about his life and his experiences, and also enjoyed reading about his work. For me, the combination of personal autobiography and summary of his investigations into near-death experiences (and other branches of the field) fits together nicely, and the book has made me want to read some of his other books. Most enjoyable!
review 2: I was excited when I checked this book out because I thought it was a study on near-death experiences. It is, but it's also an autobiography, which I was not expecting. At first it rubbed me the wrong way because I wasn't looking f
... moreorward to reading about somebody's life. But then as I kept reading on I couldn't put the book down. He talks about his first glimpse of death, and how it shaped his career from that point on. He starts with near death experiences in college, then eventually moving onto working with scrying and eventually ending with shared-death experiences (which I have never heard of until now.)Great book and an excellent read for anyone interested in the subject. less

Didn't learn anything interesting. Mostly story about Moody's life. Disappointed with content.
