Every time I find out M. Leighton is giving us a new book I get the biggest smile on my face. Each and every single book she writes always delivers in epic proportions for me and The Beautiful Now certainly followed suit. This story is one that will leave a lasting impression deep within your heart.
Brinkley was a simple sweet girl that went from living in rags to essentially living in riches. She is now living in a new town with her mother and stepfather, which meant a new school and new friends. It isn’t until she meets Dane and she finally feels she found someone she connects with but he’s off limits because he works in the field on the farm Brinkley’s stepfather owns. The only problem is they don’t follow those rules and have quickly become one another’s everything. All seems to be going well until it isn’t. Then Brinkley leaves town and everyone has their ideas as to why typical small town speculation, she never even thinks of possibly coming back until many years later. When she arrives back in Sheperd’s Mill will things be different or will everyone and everything be just the way she left it? Her decision to come back home forces her to face the one person she loved more than anyone else, Dane. Can they move forward from the past or will they have more battles to face?
The story was so raw, real and spanned over twenty years. You really got to know these characters past and present which brought it full circle. You feel the hurt just as much as you feel the deep rooted love these characters felt as if you there walking right beside them as you turn the pages. The title accurately describes this book, it was simply beautiful. An exceptionally written epic love story, one you soon won’t forget by an amazingly talented author.
