She was talking about a song that played on Pandora.

It was “Sweet Caroline.”

BTW – This just so happens to be one of my favorite versions from the Sing-Off a few years ago.

Every time this song comes on we belt out the part BOMP, BOMP, BOMP as loud as possible.

Kayla has begun to catch on and even though she hasn’t yet figured out the exact timing (it’s pretty hilarious to hear her try and catch the notes, though), she knows this is what we do when this song comes on.

After the song finished I think someone mentioned something about how did she know to do that – and her reaction was priceless.

“I learn so much from you guys.”

She was talking about music. Then she proceeded to name an entire music library of songs we’ve taught them (some intentionally, some not so much) over the years.

My heart immediately went far beyond music.

WOW. These little people are pretty smart and gosh, they sure do pick up more than we know.

The songs we sing.

The words we use.

The tone we take.

The criticisms of others.

The gossip.

The encouragement.

The servant attitude.

The habits that make up our everyday real lives.

They hear and see and know it all – whether we like it or not, my friend.

Tonight I’m asking myself the tough questions about the life I lead in front of my kids.

What habits have my kids picked up from me - good and bad? What do I need to work on improving so that they see a mom who is real, who fails and who gets back up and makes things right? How can I be more aware of the traits and characteristics I'm passing on to my kids and those around me each day?

I’m working to #clearthestage in front of my kids.

I want them to see a mom who puts God first and lives out actions and habits that support that very priority – every single day.
