review 1: I don't know how to rank this since I don't read a lot of romance. It has a nice mystery, although since it's a fairly linear story, I knew the whodunit early on. It's farfetched in the extreme in a few places, but this isn't read for believability. It's the characters and the fun and the book comes through in those cases. It's light and clean and enjoyable. I usually ask for a bit more plausibility from a book, and I do think Elliot's writing and plotting is much more mature in her Urban Fantasy work (Demon Hunter with Baby). This is a comfort read--when you're looking for chocolate and tea and book with a happy ending, this book fits the bill.
review 2: It is impossible for me to review this book without noting that A) I got a free download of it and B)
... more I was in the mood for something mindless. The price was right and it certainly was mindless....enough holes in the plot to rival Swiss cheese, a heroine who is not unlikeable but kind of a dim bulb, and a romance without any ripped bodices. Lightweight mystery, somewhat bland characters. Not badly written as much as poorly imagined. The title is kind of dumb, too, as it gives away a plot twist that should have been sprung on the reader partway through the book. less

It was an easy read and it kept you wondering who the killer was and what Susanna would discover...

Meh. Free book. Just ok. But I did want to finish it and find out the whole mystery thing.

Good story in a Jane Austin meets Jane Marple sort of way.
