#thereadingquest update part 2/2

hello, it’s been a month since I’ve started university. Things have been crazy hectic and I’m still adjusting to the whole new system. I know I hadn’t been blogging much this month but apart from school, I seem to feel a little disconnected from bookstagram and blogging. I haven’t been actively picking up books either.

Hopefully October will be a more fulfilling month! What was your favourite book you’ve read this month?

THE READING QUEST:

  • Crown of Midnight – Sarah J Maas (full review)
  • rating: ★★★★★

For the readathon, I’ve only read one book from sept 1 to sept 10. SOBSSS. I’m so disappointed that I only managed to read one. University started at end August, other than traveling time, I didn’t have time to actually sit down to read.

Crown of Midnight is definitely surpassed my expectations from Throne of Glass. It wasn’t as predictable as the first book, and I thoroughly enjoyed Celaena as a character. Also, I’m no longer seeing the guys – Chaol and Dorian – as part of Celaena’s plan only but as their own entity. In Crown of Midnight, they have their own stories to tell, and I love it. I’ve been told that from the third book onwards, the series had gone down hill for some so I’m crossing my fingers that it doesn’t happen to me.

REST OF THESE AREN’T IN THE READING QUEST!

    2. Ungodly – Kendare Blake

    goodreads review (spoilers hidden)

    rating: ★★★1⁄2

Cassandra’s less whiny and a brat in this one so I came to like her a little more. There was actually hints of potential relationship between two characters which I’m not a fan of. Thankfully, nothing much actually came out of that suggested relationship. But there’s another relationship that actually blossomed which I ADORE GREATLY. The action, characters and plot lines in Ungodly are more interesting and developed than the other books. It was a pretty good conclusion, I enjoyed how it ended.

If you’re looking for something easy and fast to read, you should pick up the series. Unless you’re a huge Greek mythology fan, this may disappoint you. I was quite frustrated with Cassandra in the second book so it definitely did impacted my mood when I read Ungodly.

    3. Captive Prince – C.S. Pacat (full review)

    rating: ★★★

Not gonna lie, I freaked out multiple times while Captive Prince. I’m not unused to New Adult novels but this one made me feel like I’m threading in unchartered waters. It’s definitely out of my comfort zone. It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve read the book but I’m still unsure about my feelings about it. oops

    4. The Allure of Julian Lefray – R.S. Grey

    rating: ★★★★

This isn’t my favourite R.S. Grey book but I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Allure of Julian Lefray. It’s set in the fashion industry and Josephine Keller as the heroine. R.S. Grey knows how to shape her characters. Josephine is witty and down-to-earth, she ventured her way from Texas to New York to chase her dreams albeit facing multiple downfalls. Next, we have Julian Lefray who’s helping his sister rebuild her career while she’s in rehab. He’s such a sweetheart and a gentleman, I love reading from his point of view. Josephine and Julian are perfect together, they compliment each other very well.

I’m slowly working my way through R.S. Grey’s books but I came to adore every one of her work and her characters. If you’re looking for a cute, funny and sexy read, pick up any of her books!!

  • #thereadingquest update part 2/2 | september’17 wrap up
  • September is just a non-stop train wreck. I’m constantly bombarded with assignments and quizzes and tests. I have a statistics test coming in October and I’m only slightly ready for it.

Haven’t been reading much lately. I’m taking forever just to read Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare. Started around mid-September.. IT’S BEEN WEEKS GUYS, feeling so depressed about my progress. ugh. When I first started my reread I thought I would breeze through the book but clearly not since I’m taking ages. The Infernal Devices is one of my all-time favourite series so I’m upset that I’m taking this long. Don’t think I’ll be able to finish my reread of the whole Shadowhunter Chronicles by the end of the year which I originally planned to. BUT, I’m still keeping my fingers crossed!

How has your september been? I hope it’s much better than mine!
