A cold day and a different cook

It was brutally cold today. We woke up and looked out at the sunshine and decided to chance a beach walk even though the temperature was -18° C with the wind. If you know me at all, you will be cheering me on right now…or wondering if I’m lying and photoshopped myself into the picture. I’m telling you the truth. We walked. For 4 km. In -18° C weather. For real. No joke!!

To warm up, we went grocery shopping. I’m starting to love grocery shopping and that’s all due to two main outside influences who have tempted me into looking for strange and wonderful new foods.

One of the most food-creative women I know is always coming up with unique and tasty looking inventions…and posting pics of them on Facebook. She is my food hero. Without her pictures, I would be missing out on so many really yummy things. Thanks Laura for always sharing your creations!

The other main influence is our neighbor Denise who is vegetarian AND an amazing cook AND who shares recipes AND leaves food at our door. She has opened my eyes to so many different new food adventures…things I wouldn’t have tried a year ago. But, I trust her judgement and she hasn’t steered me wrong even once.

So…because of these two women, we bought and cooked food we didn’t even know existed before. And you know, it was delicious!! Chuck was our chef tonight and even made a couple of loaves of whole wheat bread while he was at it. Love that guy!

Looks yummy right? Here’s the thing…it’s a tofu and broccoli stir fry with a side of zucchini noodles. Crazy! It was out of this world delicious!!

Moral of the story…get really cold, go grocery shopping for things that inspirational friends cook, get your hubby in the kitchen and let him loose with those ingredients, sit back and feast.
