I’ve always had a love affair with airplanes and travel. Growing up, my grandparents had a home in Queens, NY, not far from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). I fondly remember summer nights where my grandmother and I would sit on the front porch watching planes come in. By the time they passed over her house, they were so low you could almost count the windows on the aircraft. We’d make up stories about what exotic location the plane had just come from, and the adventures those travelers had just experienced.
At the tender age of 7, with my adult teeth still working their way into my smile, I received my very first passport. One of my favorite international adventures that first year was a post-Christmas flight from JFK to Sangster International Airport (MBJ) in Montego Bay, Jamaica for a family reunion. Armed with my newly received Barbie Walkman, the minute my seat belt was buckled, I fell in love.
To this day I still get a rush during takeoff. After a quick prayer for the safe travels of every passenger and crew member on board, my eyes quickly drift to the window to experience the wonders of physics in action as the aircraft enters the sky. (I know I’m a nerd guys… just go with it!)
Now, I’m an airport code guru (thanks Google), and a serious travel aficionado. I’m always dreaming of a new destination and how I can see both the tourist faves and the local hotspots in just a few short days. I’m ALWAYS down for a new adventure, so click around, share your stories, and let’s explore this great big world together!
