A Tribute to My Father

In the family of nine siblings, he was third,

Yet he behaved as he was born first…

Strong as diamond, clever as crow,

Soft as flower, sweet as marshmallow…

He couldn’t utter any bad word,

His good words can act as sword…

For any mischief he never scold,

For him we never grew old….

He never missed a chance to tease my mother,

We used to take his side forever….

He never compared any of his kids,

He always appreciated us with his wits…

Whenever he went out of town for a day,

A bribe of five pennies he used to pay…

I remember how we used to talk for hours,

Leaving all the household chores…

I always remember how selfless he was,

If he got a piece of cake, to everyone he used to pass…

A year before he left,

And it seemed like my smile was theft..

As God didn’t want him to suffer more,

He has taken him to heaven(sky) for sure…

His hanky I always keep,

It swipes my tears whenever I weep…

They say he is not with me in my fame,

But I can clearly see him in my name…

Once who cried at the thought of losing him,

Has survived a year without him…..

Such a Brave girl I’am….
