Artists To Look Out For: RIRI

RIRI is a young Japanese R&B artist with powerful vocals well beyond her years. RIRI got her start back in 2011 when she became a finalist in “Next Generation Star,” an audition show hosted by David Foster, a well-known producer who has worked with stars like Michael Jackson, Celine Dion and Whitney Houston.

In 2012, RIRI met her idol, Japanese singer AI. The two developed a friendship that became evident when AI introduced the young songstress to her fans during her “The Best Tour” in 2016. Later that year  RIRI produced her first EP, “I love to sing,” which included songs like “Color Me” and “GOLD.”

The eighteen-year-old artist debuted with her first music video, “Rush,” in the summer of 2017. “Rush” tells the story a young girl’s experience having her first crush, an anthem for young women who are exploring their emotions for the first time.

The “Color Me” singer recently announced she will be releasing her debut self-titled album “RIRI” under Sony Music Japan. She has teamed up with Grammy-award-winning producer Brian Soko, who has helped artists such as Beyoncé and Jennifer Lopez. Her tracklist will consist of songs from her previous EPs along with four new tracks.

You can find RIRI’s music on Spotify, iTunes and Apple Music.
