review 1: I finished this book a couple weeks ago but I started it four months ago. It was really interesting at some parts but at other parts it was really slow. Near the end it started picking back up again and I was able to finish it rather quickly. It was amazing to learn the story behind Leck and to figure out what he had done to his victims (I think that was the biggest reason as to why I kept reading). Bitterblue was a cool character but I don't know it was sort of boring to read about her when she mostly had to sit in her castle all day. It was still interesting, but I don't know, it didn't real me in like Graceling did. Despite that I still did really like the book. I thought the plot was great, I loved the characters, and I don't think it was terribly wri... moretten.
review 2: This book was SO frustrating. One minute I liked it and the next I hated it. It was so long and I wondered if she would ever get to revealing the mysteries and expanding on the love story (and it was a really weird love story). Some of the stories wrapped up so oddly that I was left totally confused...Some of the characters I enjoyed from the previous books were just shadows of themselves. It appears Cashore's standards are much different than mine as well. She covered everything from homosexuality to teen-aged out of wedlock sex and birth control. Disappointed. less
