BECAUSE I AM A GIRL…. by Constance, Team GPS Cameroon

!!!BECAUSE I AM A GIRL!!!

Because I am a girl, all the house chores in the house concerns me!!

Because I am a girl, I don’t have the right to go to school and learn!!

Because I am a girl, I have to bear the risk when my basic needs are not provided like my pants, bras and sanitary napkins and so I am force to bear the consequences!!

Because I am a girl, I am considered a liability other than being an asset and so I am being push to marriage before my due time!!

Because I am a girl, my breast has to be iron out because of tradition!!

I AM HARASS, EXPLOITED AND INTIMIDATED BECAUSE I AM A GIRL CHILD

Even when I succeed going to school I can’t properly study because I face bullying threats, sexual advances, and harassments simply because I don’t want sexually transmitted marks!!!

Even in my own society because I am a girl, I am open to forced labour, trafficking, baby sitting, and rape.

All these things are being done on me the girl, by my parents, teachers, religious, private, administrators, business men, taxi and bike riders, Indian herm smokers, aunties,, uncles ,cousins , step parents and friends

Because all these is happening to my fellow girls and I, we then have to face consequences like unwanted pregnancy, low self esteem, prostitution, psychological depreciation, I then face difficulties  in taking decisions, I am confuse. After being rape, I face the risk of being infected, I start feeling isolated vulnerable, I am filed up with anger, trauma, poor performance and eventually my life and future is destroyed all because I am a girl

I THEREFORE DEMAND FOR CHANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is the change I want, I want a society where:

I have a right to education

I have a right to decision making

Where I am not subjected to marriage

When I am still a child

Where all my needs will be provided

On time by the right persons.

Where I have access to information

Where I am free from violence,

I also want a world where I am not overburdened with house chores because I am a girl.

I want a society where gender equality works.

THIS IS THE WORLD I WANT FOR MY girls and I
