review 1: I found this audiobook in Audible and liked the description downloaded it. I loved it. For the most part it is a coming of age, coming out, growing up story. One of the best things about the relationship is that the to men complimented each other in personality. Jared helped Connor with his social awkwardness. Connor helped Jared in turn later on. Connor went from a painfully shy and awkward music geek to having a small group of friends and being more centered and comfortable with himself. The narration was excellent, too!
review 2: This was an okay read for me, there was really nothing particularly special for me. I've read a bunch of the other jock/nerd books and books featuring characters with social anxiety issues, and unfortunately there was nothing really
... morenew happening in this book. I did however, like that there were several female characters, that weren't the stereotypical bitch. I did like Conner and really sympathized with him. I was never quite as painfully shy as he was, but even to this day, I'm not big on being thrown into a group of people, no matter how big or small, and being expected to interact. However, the thing is, I am not really convinced on the relationship of these two MC's. No matter how much growth he experiences, I still feel Connor will always be a bit insecure regarding Jared. Also there was just something really lacking for me, something that really shows they should be together. less
