Wow! Is the first word that comes to mind when I think about this book. Writing this review took me a little bit to think of what to share. This book is by far the best book I have ever read. Most of the time I like to stick to books that are told in both the male and female’s point of view, but wow this book in Delilah’s point of view was amazing.
This story is full of emotion and hooked me immediately and never let me go. The writing of this book made me feel as if I was right there with Delilah experiencing her journey right along side of her.
Delilah’s character is one of true inspiration, Lindy Zart wrote this character so well.
“Why try to be like someone else when our individuality is what makes us us?”Delilah’s character literally goes through hell in this book. The darkness in Delilah’s life makes her strive for the light. She is one that makes the life she’s given worth while she pulls others away from the darkness as well and that’s what she did for Rivers.
“I don’t like to see something usually so strong, broken. It’s like watching someone fall and being unable to get to them in time. It hurts me to see others in pain. I want to fix them.”Rivers’ character is one that experiences a great deal of loss. Rivers was involved in a boating accident, in which he fell into the Mississippi river ad his lower limbs were caught in the propeller of a boat. Rivers knows just as much as anyone that you can lose anything in the blink of an eye. He was college football bound and now he barely has the ability to get around on his leg.
“Something remarkable can always be the result of something devastating, if you choose to find that one positive in a nest of negatives.”This book tore my heart apart and was left almost devastated for how everything plays out in the book. Lindy Zart did an amazing job with all of the characters. Each of them was written as if they were real, full of emotion, and they were very unique. I am pretty sure I cried for about an hour while finishing the book. The last 22% of the book is full of emotion.
“You’re going to need each other. You’re going to have to be strong for each other. Promise me, okay? When one of you falls, the other two will be there to help them back up.”TEARS!!!! The amount of love in this book and what the outcome of that love is enough to tear you apart.
This book did not have a cliffhanger. Personally, I think this book ended perfectly. I was very satisfied with everything that happened and the results.
“Can you promise me one thing?” she nods abruptly. “When you look at the flowers, can you think of me?”
5 stars are simply not enough for this book. I really fell in love with this book. The love, heart-warming moments, the heartache, everything… I loved everything. This book is definitely the best book I have read to date and will be added to my ‘favorites list’.
