review 1: "Three Quarters Dead" by Richard Peck is a 193 page fiction tale of a popular girl wanabe, Kerry, who becomes victim to the mean girl popular clique that she admires so much. Kerry is warned that the group will do nothing but use her, but with stars in her foggy little eyes, she ignores all advice to stick with the group no matter how malicious they seem to get even when they set her up to take the fall. Now granted 193 pages is a short novel, but there was really only one major incident to prove the cliques nastiness, so if you are naive as the 10th grade Kerry, you might be fooled as well, but I really saw nothing to promote such an undieing devotion to develop in Kerry. As the three mean girls call Kerry after their deaths, knowing full well they have been dead for we... moreeks, she runs to greet them as if they were still alive and kicking. My first thought was that maybe they just wanted their little wanabe to join their eternally whacked out group after all. But no, revenge is always the issue with cliques like these, revenge on those who don't see the cliques ideals and fall at their feet.
review 2: I found this book very interesting at first but as I kept reading I really found myself hating the main character's actions and behavior. It was an intriguing plot but the character just kept being predictable and falling into the same dilemmas but i found it entertaining still. Peck has a good way of rounding everything up in the end but the book left in a cliffhanger. I wanted to hear more of what would become of Spence and Kerry. It was a sad obsession with three females instead of focusing on the supposedly cute senior that was obviously into her. less

Blah...was an interesting idea, but didn't turn out that way. It was not that good and boring.
