Synopsis:
Three years ago, Tanner Scott’s family relocated from California to Utah, a move that nudged the bisexual teen temporarily back into the closet. Now, with one semester of high school to go, and no obstacles between him and out-of-state college freedom, Tanner plans to coast through his remaining classes and clear out of Utah.
But when his best friend Autumn dares him to take Provo High’s prestigious Seminar—where honor roll students diligently toil to draft a book in a semester—Tanner can’t resist going against his better judgment and having a go, if only to prove to Autumn how silly the whole thing is. Writing a book in four months sounds simple. Four months is an eternity.
It turns out, Tanner is only partly right: four months is a long time. After all, it takes only one second for him to notice Sebastian Brother, the Mormon prodigy who sold his own Seminar novel the year before and who now mentors the class. And it takes less than a month for Tanner to fall completely in love with him.

Review:
This is the first book I’ve read by this author duo and I was blown away. The writing was amazing and the characters so complex and delightful. This book manages to be incredibly heart breaking and heart warming at the same time.
One of the biggest parts of this story is the Mormon religion and how the LGBT community is treated by the church. My knowledge on the Mormon church wasn’t very extensive and I learnt a lot reading this book. Religion is a very controversial topic and I think the authors handled it with respect and sensitivity. However it was very hard to read at times, The way Sebastian’s parents talked about being gay made me want to scream and I hate that there are people out there who genuinely think that way.
I loved reading from Tanner’s perspective he is so passionate and full of heart. Tanner is bisexual and I thought the representation was great, There were many quotes about bisexuality that were so important. Sebastian’s dismissal of Tanners bisexuality did rub me the wrong way.
I really liked Tanner’s parents, they were so supportive and sweet. I didn’t agree with all of their decisions (Moving their bisexual son to an extremely religious town and forcing him back into the closet) but they loved Tanner so much and never once doubted his sexuality.
Finally lets talk about the romance, honestly it was just so sweet and pure. I loved Tanner and Sebastian together, They were such a good fit and I was rooting for them the whole time. I love that they met through a writing seminar and how big a part that played in the story and their relationship. Just read this book to experience it for yourself.
Overall, I really enjoyed the characters, the part writing plays in the story and the way the authors respectfully discuss religion and sexuality. I highly recommend giving this book a shot.
Thanks for reading!
