Description from Goodreads: “In this epic Biblical narrative, ideal for fans of The Bibleminiseries, a young woman taken into the prophet Isaiah’s household rises to capture the heart of the future king.
Isaiah adopts Ishma, giving her a new name–Zibah, delight of the Lord–thereby ensuring her royal pedigree. Ishma came to the prophet’s home, devastated after watching her family destroyed and living as a captive. But as the years pass, Zibah’s lively spirit wins Prince Hezekiah’s favor, a boy determined to rebuild the kingdom his father has nearly destroyed. But loving this man will awake in her all the fears and pain of her past and she must turn to the only One who can give life, calm her fears, and deliver a nation.”
Review: Isaiah’s Daughter was absolutely amazing! When I first picked it up I was expecting it to be slow and somewhat difficult to read; I was completely wrong. Once I got going, and got use to some of the names, I could not put this down. It was well written and I could tell a lot of research went into it.
This book helped me to understand parts of the Bible so much better. I feel like I understand the world of prophets a lot better and what their lives were probably like. I always thought that when they got a message from God, that they understood what it meant completely but this book shows a more likely scenario. Isaiah’s life wasn’t easy. At times God asked him to do difficult things and he didn’t always understand the messages he received, but his faith in God was enough to help him through them.
I also learned a lot about King Hezekiah, who I didn’t give a whole lot of thought to when reading through the Bible. I really enjoyed learning about his family and his strong faith in God.
Hephzibah is an inspiration for all women. She was strong and endured so much in her life. Although she struggled with her faith at times, she always got through it and God rewarded her for it in the end.
Recommendation: This book truly brought this part of the Bible to life for me and I am so grateful for it. Because of this book, I have been going back through the Books of Isaiah and Kings so that I can compare and contrast the words of this book and reread them with some better understanding. I loved this book and I would recommend it to anyone.
*I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher. A positive review was not required. All opinions are my own.*
