I’m honestly so surprised I haven’t wrote a blog post about Brittany Murphy yet. Seriously, why has it taken me so long?!
Anyway, if you’ve seen any of her movies, you’ll know why I love her so much; she was so great. She still is to me.
Her characters would range from the lovable lead role, to the misunderstood supporting role. If you can’t guess which characters of hers I’m talking about, the first is her role of Sarah McNearey in the 2003 movie, ‘Just Married’, where she starred alongside her partner at the time, Ashton Kutcher. The second is her amazing work as Daisy Randone in one of my favourite films, ‘Girl, Interrupted’, where she featured alongside Winona Ryder and Angelina Jolie. I’ve spoke about this film a couple of times on my blog, but you can read the specific post all about it here.
Another film of hers, which I still think is incredibly underrated, is ‘Don’t Say a Word’, where she takes on the role of a mysterious, traumatised teen. It’s one of those movies you just have to watch. I remember watching it for the first time when I was really young, and rather than being scared, I loved it. I stumbled across it as I was flicking through channels on the television, and this was the only thing that caught my eye. I ended up missing the first 10 minutes of the film, but that didn’t matter, because I was already hooked. I’m not going to give you any spoilers, I’m just going to say, watch it, because the ending has a big twist!
I still think that’s the only time I’ve ever seen that film; and now that it’s on my mind, I’m going to watch it again tonight, for the first time in forever. Hopefully, I still love it now, as much as I did the first time around.
Brittany Murphy was amazing. I wish she was still alive. She was truly under appreciated before her passing.
R.I.P to one of my favourites, I still miss her.
