review 1: It seems that many people don't like this book because it is not like "Let the Right One In". That is probably why I do like it. Who wants an author who always writes similar books? This is not a typical horror novel but is extremely horrific to the few individuals who have to deal with the undead. It is a much more personal horror and that, in many ways, is worse than the typical "zombies taking over the Earth."
review 2: This was the second novel by this author that I have read so far. I did not hate this book, but it lacked some of the brilliance of The Harbor. I wonder if this had to do with translation...the translator was not credited in this book, and perhaps was not the same as the one used for The Harbor. This book is not about zombies or vampires, and... more reminds me a bit of Les Revenants. I think it is good if you do not pick it up expecting zombies or vampires...I did not, and remained engaged, but not gripped. less
