review 1: Great, powerful, and inspiring book. I appreciate that Jim Gorant did not force any opinion on the reader of how you should feel or that Michael Vick is some horrible person or not. He presented the facts and of course when discussing the gentleman who abused and/or killed the dogs he said they were wrong because they were. I was angry, scared and almost put the book back on the shelf after 20 pages and I"m so glad I didn't. By the end I was still sad but had renewed hope that there are A LOT of good people in the world and good does overcome bad. All cliches aside as Jasmine (rescued dog) will show you - these dogs have been freed to move on and live their lives in whatever form that may take. One of the top 5 books I've ever read.
review 2: This is a di
... morefficult book to read at times but it was important to understand how resilient the dogs are and how well they did despite the horrific treatment they received. Michael Vick is a very sick person and despite doing time he should never be allowed to have a dog. You will be shocked at how brutal Michael Vick and his associates were. The book was very well written and I was elated to hear how well the surviving dogs did despite the horrific conditions they were forced to endure. less

I read it but I skipped all the scenes in the first part of the book that described the dog abuse.

Very graphic but a great book with a good ending to a horrible situation.
