review 1: Psychological thrillers aren't usually my thing but this was good. I didn't have much sympathy for the main character, Rachel, early on but developed some later. As a train commuter, Rachel develops a bit of an obsession with a young couple she observes every day as the train rolls by her old neighborhood. After the woman turns up missing, Rachel thinks she can help solve the puzzle. As the reader, I wanted to find out "who done it" and what on earth made these characters tick. This is due to be published in January 2015.
review 2: I could NOT put this down! In fact, I read it in 2 days and it has been awhile since I have been so immersed in a book that I stayed up to the wee hours of the morning to finish it. I highly recommend for anyone who enjoys mystery/
... moresuspense. Hawkins writing is focused and propels you through the narrative. The characters are well developed-- I felt empathy for Rachel and Megan despite their destructive behavior. I also thought the changes in narrator add depth to the story, giving the reader an omniscient knowledge while also serving to further develop the characters. less
