Chop Suey

I always like going to Dempsey Hills because of the greenery and the free parking. So when our friend Kavleen suggested Chop Suey, Chinese restaurant, we were not too keen. But Kavleen was vegetarian and she didnt want us to go to a vegetarian restaurant on her behalf.

After all the reviews I have read, surprisingly the food is not bad.

Seafood crispy noodles

Jade rice which Kavleen had, was very good. It had the “wok hei” or mastery of charred taste in Cantonese frying.

Brinjal and toufu which Kavleen had. She ordered all the right dishes.

The beef was dry and crispy. Not something I’m used to. I prefer juicy sliced beef Asian style. This is the sweet sour crispy style.

I had a great time because Kavleen was interesting company, riveting us with tales of how the families coped with PM Modi’s currency ban, her brother’s arranged marriage “a tale of alls well that ends well” and a relative’s wedding in Bangkok where 700 guests showed up.

The ambience at Chop Suey, the big glass windows, black and white style… relaxes you and makes up for the food.
