Interrupting Chicken by David Ezra Stein

Rating: ★★★★★

Genre: Children’s literature

Medium: Hardcover

Synopsis: It’s time for Chieken to go to bed, so he asks his father to read him a bedtime story.  He promises he won’t interrupt, this time.

Review: This book is SO fun and absolutely perfect for a bedtime story.  It’s a book within a book–the “inner” book being the one Chicken’s father is reading to him, but even the characters within that inner book react whenever Chicken interrupts!  I love the art style and how metafictive it is (I’m always a sucker for metafiction).  It’s just so funny and sweet at the end, and it’s certainly a great pick for children–especially those who like to interrupt!
