Fucking heartbreaking and tragic.
August Ames at the age of 23 has passed away. In her four years in porn she has done somewhere around 270 films and collected around 415 million views on Pornhub.
…so I guess that means about five million views from people who aren’t politicians.
As you can tell by the numbers, she’s an entertainer that will be truly missed.
The situation is still cloudy since it’s been less than 24 hours that the public was made aware of the loss. It’s assumed it was suicide brought on by cyber bullying after Ames publicly announced she wasn’t working with someone who had done gay porn and those angry with her took up this announcement as homophobia.
There are a variety of reasons she said this. She could’ve viewed gay porn sets not having a standard mainstream porn sets do, maybe a prior experience she had or somebody else she knows did, or it could’ve been a case of a twenty three year old tweeting something out that was foolish to say, which anybody with any social media account 23 or older has been guilty of.
No matter the case, it seems that an army of public shamers pushed someone who suffered from depression already over the edge in the middle of a witch hunt where emotions take over a reasonable thought process.
A typical social justice warrior condemning a stranger of not living up to their idea of morality, saying and doing whatever to ruin them and in a week will forget what they were riled up about. So You’ve Been Publicly Shamed by Jon Ronson is a book that details multiple cases of villainous creatures similar to this one.
It’s heartbreaking what has happened since August Ames has accomplished so much in her short career and had so much more to do, so many more years to perhaps find her way out of the darkness.
She will be missed by family, friends, co-workers, fans……..literally millions and millions of people who loved and appreciated her.
